![]() ![]() I definitely wanted a joystick with a Z rotation and having read many reviews after some deliberation (as the comments were mixed) I decided to go with the Logitech branded X52 Pro. My old Saitek Cyborg Evo finally gave up the ghost so it was time to replace it with something new. I didn't consider the cheaper X52 (non Pro), because I've heard too many bad things about its cheaper build quality & poor reliability. In summary, if you're looking to get a HOTAS, but don't want to spend £300+, the X52 Pro should be on your short list. Overall I'm very glad I got my X52 Pro as there's really very little decent choice under £400, once you get to that price point, then you get into the expensive stuff such as the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, and then prices climb pretty fast after that. The stick is nicely sprung and all the buttons are within easy reach, and the LEDs are customisable within the software, plus there's a neat mod which allows even better customizing. It stays put in use, and meets 95% of my Elite Dangerous needs. While it's still nowhere near as good as my old X55, it's certainly the best out of the others I tried using, and is very comfortable to use. Another few months passed and I saw this X52 Pro on sale for £99, so I took a chance on it, and I'm very glad I did. Had to wait a few months before stock levels and prices returned, and then got a Thrustmaster T16000M FCS HOTAS, which I soon returned after finding it too cheap and plasticky, plus too light where it kept moving about. ![]() I then during the height of Covid, managed to get a used Logitech X56, but just couldn't get on with the mini stick where the thumb button was on the X55, plus the 2 thumb hats on the throttle were too close to each other making them unusable, so I returned it for a refund. Having started off my space sim flying needs 6 -7 years ago with a cheap Thrustmaster T.Flight and soon finding it lacking on buttons, I upgraded to a Saitek X55 Rhino HOTAS, which severed me very well until it died last year.
